Monthly Grief Circle

No one can do your grieving for you, but you don’t have to do it alone. There is great power in witnessing grief, whether it’s yours or someone else’s. Grief circles, or intentionally gathering with others to share matters of the heart, are a beautiful opportunity to honor the very emotions that make us human and allow us to connect with each other in the many seasons of life. Whether you’re the one sharing or sitting in silence, there is always medicine in the collective heart light of community! Join me for this special, supportive monthly check-in. One hour, over Zoom, from the comfort of home, in sweatpants.

* Newsletter subscribers receive a special session discount code to use for 22% off Monthly Grief Circles– forever, so sign up first here!

The next Grief Circle will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 7:00pm EST, register here.

Death Fest: Gather, Grieve, Grow

Come explore the natural cycles of life and death through educational workshops, creative experiences, and community connection.

Learn about the dying process, after-death body care, and green burial. Connect with ancient, inner, and collective wisdom around dying and the grief processes that inevitably accompany it. Experience the art and songs, knowledge and skills of members of our community who regularly tend the hearth of death and dying.

SCHEDULE:

  • 12:00 – 12:30 Event Opens
  • 12:30 – 1:00 Opening Circle
  • 1:00 – 5:00 Workshops and Other Activities
  • 5:00 – 5:45 Shared Meal (see details below)
  • 5:45 – 6:45 Closing Circle
  • 7:00 Event Ends

Participants are encouraged to stay for the full event, but are welcome to come and go as needed.

We will open and close in a circle of communion. In between there will be a rich array of opportunities to learn, restore, and grow. We will expand our knowledge and awareness, reflect on our experiences, hold grief close, sing, dance, write, create, and cook. We will share a meal, honor our ancestors, listen, open, celebrate, and breathe, all in the embrace of the stunning Camp Albemarle landscape.

SHARED MEAL:

All participants are asked to bring a few vegetables or other contributions for a soup and/or salad, which will be prepared by our in-house chef and participants in the “Grief Cooking” workshop! (more details will be sent out prior to the event)

This event is a shared endeavor among Woven Roots Collective, Hospice of the Piedmont, and Panorama Natural Burial.

As space is limited, advance registration is required for this event. Admission price is by donation to cover event costs and support the Woven Roots Collective and Hospice of the Piedmont. Register here.

Join us at a private home and retreat center 30 minutes from Charlottesville for an afternoon dedicated to honoring and expressing grief.

Ritual allows our grief to heal us, transform us and discover a new shape of wholeness that includes our loss. When grief gets stuck or blended with shame, despair, or resignation, it often leads to a withdrawal and ambivalence toward life. But when grief is supported in community and allowed to move through the body, it can deepen our soul and open us more fully to life and love.
